Fund a 12-month security retainer for core contracts

Proposed byMira Okaformira.eth · Oct 9

Voting ends in

Summary

Retain two independent audit firms for twelve months to review every change to the core and bridge contracts before it ships, instead of commissioning one-off audits per release.

Motivation

We shipped nine contract upgrades this year and audited four of them. The bridge carries most of the protocol's value, and its last full review is seven months old.

A standing retainer gives reviewers context across releases, shortens turnaround to days, and costs less than buying audits one at a time.

Specification

  • 420,000 USDC from the treasury, paid in four quarterly tranches.
  • Each tranche releases only after the firms publish that quarter's report.
  • Every core or bridge upgrade needs sign-off from at least one firm before execution.
  • The security council can end the retainer early with 30 days' notice.
